HPC Knowledge Meeting '15

We were pleased to host the fourth HPC Knowledge Meeting organized by HPCNow! and IQTC-UB. This was a meeting aimed to share expertise and strategies in High Performance Computing, High Performance Data Analysis & Clustering. It was held at the University of Barcelona, from 3rd to 4th February, 2015 in conjunction with the BeeGFS Training’15 and Slurm Training’15, organized by HPCNow! & IQTC-UB and ThinkParQ.

Call for Presentation & Tutorial Proposals

HPC & clustering experts are encouraged to submit proposals for Presentations and Tutorials to be given during the conference. Concurrent sessions are scheduled in 15-minute, 30-minute and 60-minute blocks.

We would like to cover all areas of interest in HPC and clustering. For this reason, we encourage you to submit presentations or tutorials related with these fields.

Proposal Submission

All proposals must be submitted as a single pdf file via e-mail (This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.) by 18th Dec, 2014, including:

  1. Contact information
  2. A 200-word (maximum) abstract
  3. Only for tutorials : a detailed description of the tutorial content (maximum 2 pages) containing:
    • Targeted audience
    • Content level (split into: beginner, intermediate, advanced)
    • Audience prerequisites
    • Detailed outline (maximum 1 page)

How to arrive?

By Plane

Barcelona - El Prat Airport is a major airline hub, the second busiest airport in Spain. It is located south-west of the city of Barcelona, between the city limits of El Prat de Llobregat, Viladecans and Sant Boi. Find out more on the web.

El Prat airport is roughly a 20-minute drive from the Faculty of Chemistry. Taking a taxi would be the most comfortable option to reach the venue. But public transport is also a very convenient option to arrive and to move around the city thanks to the integrated fare system.

To come by train from the airport (departs every 30 minutes), take Line 1 of the local train service (RENFE Rodalies) to the mainline station “Barcelona Sants” (22 minutes), which has connections with the metro system (Line 3). Take the metro in direction "Zona Universitària" and get off at the station called "Palau Reial" (see map).

By Train

Go to "Barcelona Sants" mainline station (metro stop "Sants Estació"), which has connections with the metro system (Line 3). Take the metro in direction "Zona Universitària" and get off at the station called "Palau Reial" (see map).

By Metro

Take Line 3 in direction "Zona Universitària" and get off at the station called "Palau Reial" (see map).

By Bus

Routes 7, 33, 60, 67, 68, 74 and 75 pass near the venue. Further information: TMB.

By Tram

Routes T1, T2 and T3 pass through the campus area. The most suitable Tram stop is called "Palau Reial". Further information at Tram website.

The meeting will be hosted by the Faculty of Chemistry (Aula Magna - Enric Cassassas room, ground floor), University of Barcelona (Av. Diagonal 645, 08028 Barcelona).

Registration fee includes electronic version of abstracts, coffee breaks and lunch.

Number of participants of HPC Knowledge Meeting'15 is limited to 250 but Slurm'15 and BeeGFS'15 are limited to 50. Acceptance will be made on a first come first serve basis.
